At Dry Goods Refillery, we’re on a mission to make sustainable, package-free shopping accessible, enjoyable, and impactful for our Montclair, NJ community and beyond. We’re plastic free grocers who give a fig.

We began in 2020 with a simple but stubborn frustration: no matter how many sustainable swaps we made at home—packing lunches in reusables, carrying our water bottles, switching to cloth napkins—we couldn’t avoid plastic when grocery shopping. Even with farmers’ markets and tote bags, our kitchens filled with plastic wrap, boxes with cellophane windows, and unnecessary packaging. Bulk options existed, but they didn’t make it easy to bring your own container (BYOC). We knew there had to be a better way.

So we created one. Dry Goods Refillery was born to revive the tradition of shopping the way generations before us did—buying high-quality goods without the waste. Today, we proudly source from eco-conscious suppliers who share our values: carbon-neutral shipping, fair trade practices, small family organic farms, even electric delivery vehicles. Every jar, bag, and bottle on our shelves represents a step toward a more sustainable way of living.

Our home is at 193 Bellevue Avenue in Montclair, NJ, just 15 miles outside New York City. Here, we’ve grown into a community hub for the refill revolution—and thanks to social media, our reach has expanded far beyond New Jersey. We’re proud to inspire sustainable shoppers across the country (and even the globe!) to rethink the way they buy groceries.

Along the way, we’ve been honored with national recognition: named a Top 3 Finalist in The UPS Store Small Biz Challenge (2023) and included in the CO-100 Chamber of Commerce Top 100 Small Businesses in the U.S. (2024) and featured in numerous press outlets both local and nationwide.

At the end of the day, we’re more than just a grocery store. We’re your neighbors, your refill station, and your partners in making small choices that create a big impact.
